Ed Rudolph Northbrook Velodrome welcomes new sponsor

Northbrook, Illinois -- August 4, 2005 -- The Ed Rudolph Northbrook Velodrome is pleased to announce that tonight’s title sponsor is the Deerfield Cyclery Bicycle Club (DFCBC).   This is the newest cycling club along Chicago’s north shore.
The track will be burning up as tonight spectators will see a full racing schedule including the Pro/1/2 Keirin and the crowd pleasing Madison for the Pro/1/2 and Category 3/4 racers.

On-site registration for tonight’s events will take place from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.  Riders are advised that they must be registered prior to warming up on the track.

Zipp, the official wheel of Thursday night racing will again be there.  Racers will have the opportunity to win a new Zipp 900 disk wheel by purchasing a raffle ticket ($5 each).  Participants may enter as often as they like increasing their chances of winning.  The winner will be announced at the end of the season.

The Northbrook Cycling Committee continues to have available for sale the newly designed t-shirt.  Riders may purchase the t-shirts for $15.  The shirts are available in medium, large, and extra large. 

On Thursday August 11, the velodrome will host the 8th annual Roger Delanghe Trophy Race presented by 2CC Racing and the Pony Shop.   This premier 50 lap scratch race is a salute to Roger Delanghe who has made countless contributions to cycling over the years.  This race offers a $2,000 cash prize; the largest total purse of the season.

About DFCBC:  The Deerfield Cyclery Bicycle Club is a grass-roots organization created to help cycling enthusiasts develop their fitness and skills through group training rides and clinics.  The team is coached by Mitch Murphy, Vitor Alexandre and David Merritt.  Deefield Cyclery is owned by Greg Balmes who has been in the bicycle industry for many years.
